Congratulations, you just got engaged! The most exciting moment of your life and now you get to plan your big day! I remember when Matt popped the question…I couldn’t help but tell everyone the news!
When it comes to the planning part, there comes a lot of stress. Crazy expenses and many opinions will swoop into your vision…and it’s okay! While planning your wedding, I want you to enjoy your engagement…and here’s how!
1) TIME IS KEY
Don’t rush into booking your vendors right away but keep in mind, vendors tend to book up as far as a year in advance! Sit down with your fiancé and determine your must-haves and priorities first.
Are you wanting a long or short engagement?
Do you want a small or big wedding?
Do you want to have it in town, somewhere close or make it a destination wedding?
Who’s all coming?
2) ASK FOR HELP
Don’t be afraid to ask for help from mom or dad! Brides and grooms are paying for their own weddings these days and things can add up quick. If you need help, people are willing to be there to make sure you have a beautiful and fun day.
3) INVEST IN A PHOTOGRAPHER
I believe photos last a lifetime ⏤ well, because they do! Think about it. The food will be eaten, your hair will come down, the tuxes will be returned but one thing that lasts forever ⏤ your images.
When planning my wedding, I invested the most money into my photographer because I want my memories to be captured beautifully and they last forever! Photography is more than just taking photos, it’s the experience you have.
When I work with my couples, I make sure I am there for them. I’m more than just a photographer, I’m their friend for a lifetime. Weddings can be very challenging and having a photographer that is experienced will leave you stress-free.

4) SAY ‘YES’ TO THE RIGHT DRESS
Make a whole day’s worth finding a dress! Invite your mother, maid of honor and your closest friends. Grab a bite, shop around and don’t be afraid to try on different styles. You typically want to do this 10-12 months before your wedding date.
Find a dress you feel the most comfortable in! When trying on dresses, think about the following:
- Is this dress too scratchy?
- Will this dress be too hot or too cold?
- Will I be able to party it up in that dress?!
