The flowers. From hydrangeas, roses and peonies to beautiful garland centerpieces, floral arches and extravagant bouquets. I know what you are thinking…I want it all!
And that is why today I am sharing a few tips when considering your wedding florals. There is so much to plan with such little time, let’s get to it!
1) RESEARCH
There are three things you should look into:
- Florists. There are so many different vendors out there offering different prices and services. The best way to find a florist is to ask your friends, photographer or even your venue. Once you have a few in mind, reach out to them and tell them your budget!
- The Season. Keep in mind the month you are getting married. For example, I got married in July. Therefore, peonies were not in season. This means, if I really want peonies, I have to bring out that extra cash. But seriously, there are so many different flowers that look the same! You will find the flowers of your dreams, don’t worry!
- Colors. There are plenty of colors out there when it comes to flowers. If you already have a set style, you’re good!! If not, do some research on wedding colors!I suggest picking one color and then an accent color along with it. For example, my wedding colors were blush pink and slate blue. Blush being my main color and blue being the secondary. Having your colors set will help you pick out the flowers to match!
2) CREATE A PINTEREST BOARD
If you are an avid pinterester, you go girl! If not, try it! Create a board, title it wedding flowers and search the internet for wedding florals.
If you’re new around here, check out my Pinterest, it’s full of inspo!
Another tip is to gather all of your details for the florist meeting. For instance, have a photo of your dress on your phone, show them the venue, tell them your color scheme and don’t be afraid to pull out your Pinterest board full of your loves. This will help you give them your wedding vision!
The only thing to be careful about is setting unrealistic expectations! Don’t get too caught up in matching your flowers to your inspiration, this will stress you out and that is the last thing you want when planning your big day!
3) YOUR BUDGET
Before you meet with your potential florist, consider creating an overall budget. A good amount to set aside for your flowers is 10-15% from your total budget. (Most couples spend $700 – $2,500 on flowers.)
Being open and communicating with your vendor will save you both time and stress ⏤ and we know how valuable time is when planning a wedding! So, relax when creating your dream wedding florals and don’t let it stress ya out, this part of wedding planning is when it gets fun!
4) LET’S TALK ABOUT SILK FLOWERS
“Go to Hobby Lobby and make your own bouquets with silk flowers! You will save so much money doing it this way!” This can be true but it can also be false! Let me explain.
Silk flowers can be cheaper than real flowers but here is the catch…the quality! If you find the flowers that are higher in quality, you are more than likely spending just as much as you would on real flowers. So why not invest in fresh florals for your big day?!
Your wedding day will have all eyes on it and so will your wedding photos! Your flowers are going to be in just about every photo! Get the wedding flowers of your dreams girl!
