How To Feel Comfortable In Front Of The Camera

How To Feel Comfortable In Front Of The Camera

Let’s be honest hear, being in front of the camera can feel a little intimidating, right? But there are many ways to avoid this feeling throughout your whole session and by knowing these tips will help you get the best photos from the shoot!

1) GET TO KNOW YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER

The best way to feel comfortable in front of the camera is by getting to know your photographer. There are many ways to go about doing this.

The first step is to read their about section and blog posts. Most photographers like to post a few personal topics on their blog.

Another way is to just follow their social media or even add them on Facebook if they have one. Making sure you two connect and feel like good friends will ensure you’re relaxed and have a great time during the session.

One other idea could be even going out for coffee or lunch with your photographer, I mean I wouldn’t be opposed to the idea! I’m here to capture beautiful moments and make friends! If you are searching for a wedding photographer, don’t forget to ask a lot of questions! Here are some questions you should be asking!

2) DON’T POSE ALL THE TIME!

My style is pretty candid. I love to get portraits of you and your loved ones interacting with each other like you do on a typical day. Of course, I also like having photos of you smiling at the camera but the best images are the raw emotional ones.

I have many prompts I use to make sure we are getting the best emotions out of you so your images are genuine! You don’t have to look at me all of the time!

3) KNOW IT WILL BE AWKWARD…AT FIRST

Knowing the first fifteen or so minutes will be awkward at first does help loosen the tension. This is one of the reasons I like couples or families to show up fifteen minutes before a session so we can get the real emotions going before the shoot even begins!

It’s totally ok if you don’t have modeling experience, it’s actually even better! You’ll be surprised how much of a natural you really are!

4) WEAR COMFORTABLE CLOTHING

I cannot stress this enough! If you are not feeling comfortable in what you are wearing, it will definitely show through in the images. Wear outfits that you feel confident in and not something you typically never wear. Your photos will look stunning when you are feeling beautiful in what you are wearing!

5) HAVE FUN!!

I want you to have a great time with me, I want your experience to be the best of the best. Feel free to giggle and roll with it!

When you are having a great time not only will you remember the moment but you will also have that emotion shine through your photos. Who doesn’t love photos that are full of laughter and joy?!

Don’t take it so seriously, and feel free to be quirky and open. Being truly genuine will always give better photos than forced smiles.

6) DON’T PANIC

You may think, “Oh gosh, I have no idea what to do with my hands, what pose do I do, ahhh!” I got you, I’ll handle all the posing.

I’ll be your guide throughout the entire session while making sure everyone looks awesome!

I hope these tips are helpful for you and your next session!
