Cocktail Hour at Lowndes Grove
Instead of leaning into a traditional wedding reception style, Kathryn and Noah envisioned something a little different. Their goal was an atmosphere that felt like a stylish cocktail bar. Elegant but relaxed. Intentional but still fun. The reception design truly reflected that vision.
Two custom bars became focal points of the space. One featured a cream structure with brown stripe wallpaper on the front, while the other was a curved blue bar that Kathryn was especially excited about. The colors echoed the wedding palette and created a playful but refined design moment. Cocktail hour was filled with incredible food and drinks. Guests enjoyed passed appetizers like oysters, chip and caviar, watermelon bites, chicken and waffles, and banh mi. The bar served Aperol spritzes, espresso martinis, and dirty martinis with blue cheese olives, adding to the elevated cocktail experience.
Later in the evening, dinner featured steak or chicken with truffle mashed potatoes and spicy brussels sprouts. Dessert included banana pudding jars, passed cannolis, and the iconic Peninsula Grill coconut cake. These details created an experience that felt incredibly thoughtful and welcoming, something that truly comes through in Lowndes Grove wedding photos and in the overall feeling of the day.

Intimate Reception Detailing at Lowndes Grove
Walking into the reception space felt like stepping into the warmest, most romantic dinner. The tent at Lowndes Grove was transformed into a space that felt elegant yet completely relaxed, exactly what Kathryn and Noah envisioned for their celebration. Soft draping framed the tent, allowing the views of the oak trees and waterfront to peek through while keeping the atmosphere cozy and intimate. Overhead, greenery installations wove through the ceiling structure alongside warm chandeliers and soft fabric lanterns, giving the entire space a layered glow as the evening approached.
The tablescape design felt both refined and inviting. Some tables featured beautiful blue patterned linens that added a coastal Charleston feel, while others were kept soft and neutral with textured ivory cloths. Bentwood chairs surrounded the tables, bringing in a natural warmth that balanced the more elevated elements of the design.
Florals by Branch Flower Shop stayed light and airy, with white blooms, delicate blue accents, and soft greenery arranged in sculptural vessels and low arrangements. Glass hurricanes filled with glowing candles added depth and warmth to each table, creating a romantic atmosphere once the sun began to set.
One of my favorite design moments was how the textures layered together throughout the space. The patterned linens, delicate florals, candlelight, and soft draping all worked together to create a reception that felt stylish without ever feeling overly formal.
Spaces like this are exactly why couples searching for Lowndes Grove wedding photos fall in love with this venue. The combination of the waterfront views, historic grounds, and a thoughtfully designed tent creates such a timeless setting for celebration.

A Celebration Focused on People and Emotion
For Kathryn and Noah, the most important part of their wedding was never just the design or the details. It was the people. They wanted their family and friends to feel close, comfortable, and present. Every part of the day was created with that intention.
Even the smallest personal touches reflected that warmth. Custom napkins and koozies featured their dog Piper, bringing a little bit of their everyday life into the celebration.
From emotional hugs after the ceremony to laughter on the dance floor later in the evening, the entire day was filled with moments that perfectly reflect what couples hope to see when they search for Lowndes Grove wedding photos.

As the evening unfolded, the celebration shifted into a lively reception with music from Emerald Empire Band and a packed dance floor celebrating Kathryn and Noah in a space that felt joyful, stylish, and deeply personal.
Documenting this day was such an honor, and it perfectly reflects the kind of heartfelt celebration that makes Charleston wedding photography so special.
