You’ve secured a wedding date, venue and photographer…the next step is the fun part, your engagement session! But first, you’ve got to find the perfect outfits before you hop in front of the camera. Below is a list of places for you and your groom can find engagement session outfits!
But before we dive into all the places to shop for your outfit, there are a few things to know:
BASICS
Avoid colors such as : dark reds, neons, bright oranges, etc. They reflect color onto skin and can be difficult to edit! The best colors that fit well with my style are whites, neutrals, pastels, and if you’re wanting to wear black, I love a little black dress or suit style.
Avoid patterns smaller than a quarter : Tiny patterns cause “Chromatic Aberration” in digital images. Men’s checkered shirts are fine if the squares are on the larger side.
Alternate Heaviness : To make your images look more balanced, alternate lighter vs dark. Having the couple wear two very dark jeans, tops, etc can make the image feel super heavy and it is hard to successfully get the brighter look in your images.
Avoid one of you being casual while the other is more dressy : It can look a little awkward when one is wearing a suit and the other is wearing a basic tee and jeans. Also avoid “matching” your outfits, instead coordinate and compliment each others.
Khakis Vs Jeans: To get the most out of my style, and you are really wanting to avoid khakis for your groom, consider a light wash pant instead of a super dark jean or dress pants.
Other things to avoid : Tennis shoes, graphic tees, bold logos on shirts, baseball hats, apple watches, and sunglasses (unless they’re those adorable heart shaped sunglasses ha!)
