A Sunny Engagement in Downtown Chicago

A Modern Love Story

In September 2020, Rony and MaryKate’s paths crossed thanks to a dating app. After matching on a Thursday, they wasted no time—going on their first date the very next night at a fantastic cocktail bar. Sparks flew instantly, and they quickly fell in love.

A Romantic Proposal on the Water

Fast forward to 2022, and the couple found themselves at MaryKate’s cousin’s lake house in Allegan, Michigan. Unbeknownst to her, Rony had orchestrated the perfect surprise. He rented a private boat under the pretense that her sister had arranged it, and they set off on a peaceful cruise along the Kalamazoo River.

Savoring the quiet beauty of the moment, Rony knew it was the perfect time to ask the most important question of his life. In front of MaryKate’s family (and their adorable pup Finn!), he got down on one knee. The answer was, of course, a resounding yes! They celebrated with a family dinner and a sweet treat of ice cream to mark the beginning of their forever.

Exploring Downtown Chicago for Their Engagement Photos

Over Memorial Day weekend, I had the absolute joy of capturing Rony and MaryKate’s downtown Chicago engagement photos. The weather was perfect, and their energy was just as wonderful.

We started the session near the Wrigley Building, one of the most stunning architectural gems in the city. This area is perfect for engagement photography in Chicago, as the mix of historic charm and city energy creates a gorgeous backdrop.

Romantic Skyline Views at North Avenue Beach

After capturing classic Chicago engagement pictures in the heart of downtown, we made our way to North Avenue Beach. This location is a must for couples who want both a waterfront setting and a breathtaking skyline view. As the sun set, the city lights started to twinkle, making for the dreamiest photos.

I also had the pleasure of meeting MaryKate’s sweet sister and their beloved pup Finn. The session felt like a celebration in itself, and I cannot wait for their timeless wedding at The Morris Estate later this year. It’s going to be a day filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable memories!
