Give a warm welcome to Stacey + Jacob, two high school sweethearts! They had actually gone on a double date but not as each other’s dates. We can just say fate brought these two together as they started to build a strong friendship, and that is where their relationship stayed for quite awhile, just friends, but best friends. But on January 1st, 2015, Jacob had asked Stacey to be his girlfriend. They ended up exchanging Christmas gifts that day. Jacob’s heart was pounding so loud that day as he gifted her a photo of them along with a sweet thoughtful note.
Their first date was your classic dinner and a movie but with a little adventure. It may have been cold and rainy but everything couldn’t feel more right. Right after dinner, Stacey had dropped her phone in a puddle! It took them awhile to find it and to this day, that memory gives them a good laugh.
Four years later, Jacob set up an absolutely beautiful and thought out proposal for Stacey. It was at their favorite spot (and actually where we shot their engagement session), out on Diamond Lake! Jacob set up the pathway and pier with flowers and candles. And since it was close to the 4th of July, the colors corresponded with the holiday – red, white, and blue! Jacob was standing at the end of the pier with gorgeous flowers and after some touching words, he got down on one knee and asked Stacey to marry him. Surrounded by friends and family, these two were so excited to celebrate their new milestone together.
Fast forward to their engagement session, I met Stacey + Jacob at the same spot where they got engaged, at her family’s lake house. We had decided to make our way down the street a mile or two where we discovered some country fields with a gorgeous large tree. I was in heaven and the sun was shining down, I was so happy we decided to keep going (thanks to Matt for grabbing the car so we didn’t have to walk the whole way back in the cold air lol). We ended the session out on the pier and it was so peaceful and beautiful. I cannot wait to celebrate with these two next October, their vision is SO fun and I am dying to see it come to life!
Once that sun came out, that glow just soothed my soul, so gorgeous!
I absolutely love how there are pops of red / purple in this first outfit EVERYWHERE. Staceys lip color, her heels, his button-up, and even their mums!
Stacey girl, you are so gorgeous!! This is hands down my favorite from our session, ahhh!
These moments right here are what I LIVE for, so in love!
We saved the best for last, their stunning “front yard”. Stacey had mentioned how its funny that in a sense, their backyard (the water) is actually their front yard. I love it.
